5 behind the scenes reveals from the FSCS podcast
Ever wondered what goes into making our podcast? To celebrate International Podcast Day 2024 we’re revealing five things you probably don’t know about what goes on behind the scenes.
- Trial run
We always have a trial-run recording a few days before the actual recording so the host and guests can go through what we’re going to talk about. We’ve learned that this is an essential step to help the conversation flow easily on record day. You can see regular hosts Amy, Jess and Nigel prepping for an episode in the photo above.
- How-to episodes
We regularly produce how-to episodes to make claiming with us as straightforward and transparent as possible. These practical episodes are consistently some of the most popular and our most listened to episode of all-time is currently #8 How to claim with FSCS in 3 steps.
- The wonders of editing
Full disclosure: we’re not one-take-wonders - we always have to do retakes! The finished episode always sounds pretty smooth and polished but we have some clever editing to thank for that. We published a collection of bloopers last year to celebrate those imperfections.
- Mini episodes
We aim to make our mini-pods as short and snappy as possible so they’re easy to digest – usually around the 7-minute mark. Some of our more recent mini-pods have nudged up to 10 minutes so we clearly need to keep an eye on timings! These episodes are great for explaining financial terms that people may not be familiar with, so they also act as a little dictionary for FSCS’s key terms.
- Customer stories
We welcomed a very special guest in episode #30: one of our customers, Buzz Elliott. Buzz told his story of claiming compensation with FSCS after his pension transfer didn’t go as planned. Buzz had given up hope of getting back £60k of his pension, until we stepped in to help. (If you’ve got a story of claiming with us you’d like to share, we’d love to hear from you. Contact us here).
So that’s what goes on behind the scenes of making the podcast. Along the way we’ve partnered with some brilliant guests, including Which?, MoneyHelper, Plain Numbers and the Association of British Credit Unions Ltd. We’re always keen to feature new guests, so please do reach out if you’re interested.
We hope you enjoy listening to the podcast as much as we love making it. You can find all our episodes here on our website or wherever you usually listen to your podcasts.
